Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT)

The Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT) System is Bank of Ireland's comprehensive, flexible and cost effective alternative to cash and paper payments.

EFT allows for direct payments to employee and creditor accounts and for the collection of receipts from debtor accounts. EFT is available in three services:

  1. Direct Pay
  2. Direct Credit
  3. Direct Debit

Accounts at any of the Clearing Banks with access to the EFT Clearing system can be credited or debited.

EFT typically operates on a three-day cycle (which can be shortened in certain circumstances). Files can be transmitted either via Business on Line or through use of a direct transmission link from your PC to the Bank's Computer Centre. The Bank of Ireland Transmission System (WINBITS) is a user-friendly software package which can be used with any IBM compatible PC running on MS Windows.

Creditor Automated Payments System (CAPS)

CAPS is an enhanced creditor payments system, which facilitates making payments to your suppliers electronically. The service covers both the value and remittance information, eliminating all the manual tasks such as cheque and remittance advice preparation, signing, printing, posting etc. CAPS accepts both domestic and international payment instructions that can be transmitted in the same file - thus eliminating the need to handle international payments separately.

CAPS will save you both time and money because it eliminates cheque reconciliation, reduces manual errors, improves cash management and reduces administration resource requirements.
